I have the latest version of Micro-Cap but one of my fellow employees is still using an older version. I need to supply him with one of my schematics. Are the circuit files backwards compatible?

The circuit files are not directly backwards compatible. You would need to go the the File menu, click on Translate, and select the Schematic to Old Version option. This lets you translate the schematic file into previous file formats going back to MC5.
